Makaha Valley Flood Mitigation Study – Final Report (2014)

The Final Report for the Makaha Valley Flood Mitigation Study  overviews the existing watershed conditions;  summarizes the flood problem areas;  provides the hydrologic and hydraulic analysis;  presents recommended flood mitigation projects and measures;  and evaluates the effectiveness of each project to mitigate flooding.  This report also provides a summary of environmental impacts of the proposed flood mitigation projects and concludes with future actions needed for implementation.

All are encouraged to attend the final public meeting for this study to discuss recommended flood mitigation measures for Makaha Valley, on Thursday, January 15th at the Waiʻanae District Park Multi-Purpose Building. Refreshments will be provided at 6:30 p.m., followed by a presentation and discussion from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.

This study has been prepared by Townscape, Inc. for the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), in fulfillment of the requirements set forth by Act 283, Session Laws of Hawaiʻi 2012, with much support from the Makaha Valley Community and State Legislators.  The DLNR extends our Aloha to all who helped input and express comment on this study.
